MARYLAND
STATE HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
Established in 1898
"The Society has shifted with the times, has been alert to the complexities facing the fruit industry, and has been effective voice for all in advancing and protecting the vital interests of this industry." - Arthur H. Thompson, The First Ninety Years History of the Maryland State Horticultural Society
Our annual summer orchard tour will be held in the Shenandoah Valley focusing on fruit production and marketing. The tour will begin at the Virginia Tech REC in Winchester. After that we will tour two large, multi-generational family farms that are involved in wholesale and retail fruit production and sales. The tour will end at an interesting winery owned and managed by a University of Maryland graduate who grew up in Howard County.
